A mandate to promote Norwegian exports
Tone Lunde Bakker (58) joins Export Finance Norway from the position of CEO at Swedbank Norway, which she has held since 2017. She also chairs the corporate assembly and nomination committee of Equinor ASA and is a recipient of the Leadership Champion award given out as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative. She has many years’ experience in the areas of management, customer activities and credit provision from Nordic commercial banks. Ms Bakker holds an economics degree from Arizona State University. The temporary board supervising the merger of GIEK and Export Credit Norway – which is also mandated to prepare Export Finance Norway for the start of operations on 1 July – has run the appointment process with the assistance of a recruitment agency. “Following a thorough process, I am glad to have recruited a CEO we are sure will do a fantastic job for Export Finance Norway and Norwegian businesses,” says interim board chair Morten Støver.
– Export Finance Norway is gaining an experienced leader with in-depth knowledge of exporters’ financing needs, a strong understanding of credit provision and many years’ management experience. These skills will be vital both during the establishment of Export Finance Norway and in the promotion of Norwegian exports,” says Minister of Trade and Industry Iselin Nybø.
– I look forward to working with my new colleagues at Export Finance Norway to promote Norwegian exports and support restructuring in the Norwegian economy, says Tone Lunde Bakker. Foto: Rasmus Kongsøre
