The two vessels are powered by gas engines from Rolls-Royce at Hordvikneset near Bergen. Unlike duel fuel engines, they are powered solely by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Due to the highly efficient LNG powered engines, in addition to new hull design and propulsion systems, the vessels reduce CO2emissions by approximately 40 percent. The ship type has won several prestigious prizes for innovative design and its contribution to climate-friendly logistics.
From the Netherlands to Hammerfest
The vessels, which have a cruising speed of 15.5 knots, can sail from the Netherlands to Hammerfest without refueling. They will go into service between Norway and Continental Europe, and north along the Norwegian coast to Hammerfest. The ships were built by Tsuji Heavy Industries in China. Export Credit Norway contributed with financing for both ships with a total loan amount of NOK 160 million.Read more about:
