Vard Brattvaag has constructed an impressive offshore construction vessel. The ship is unique in Norway, and will be the largest member of Solstad Offshore’s fleet.
Stig Gjethammer from Export Finance Norway
The vessel has been fitted with a 550-tonne vertical lay tower capable of laying pipe in demanding conditions and at great depths. It also has an under-deck basket capacity of some 3,800 tonnes. The vessel deck features two offshore cranes with lifting capacities of 900 and 150 tonnes, respectively, which will be used for various operations including the manoeuvring of larger pipes, cables and seabed installations.
The Normand Maximus also has two moon pools equipped with a LARS system for the launch and recovery of remotely operated submersibles.
Created for demanding projects
The Normand Maximus has been designed for seabed pipe-laying and the completion of especially demanding construction projects. This ship is made for large, challenging assignments,” says Gjethammer.
Export Finance Norway has part-financed the contract, with some guarantee cover. The ship has been leased to the Italian company Saipem for the next eight years. The vessel will start work in Brazil before moving on to further assignments for Saipem off West Africa and in the Mediterranean.
